I’m Bilal Ahmed, an electrical engineer from Islamabad. After completing my B.E. from NUST with a 3.6 GPA, I wanted to pursue a Master’s in Renewable Energy Systems. Sweden, being a global leader in sustainability and innovation, was my top choice.
Through Global Consultants, I learned that Sweden offers free tuition for non-EU students (though this has recently changed, some scholarships still cover fees). More importantly, Swedish universities are world-renowned for engineering, especially in sustainability and technology. I applied to KTH Royal Institute of Technology, one of Europe’s top technical universities.
The consultants helped me prepare a strong application, including writing a compelling motivation letter explaining my interest in renewable energy and my career goals. They also helped me gather recommendation letters and prepare my portfolio. I was accepted to KTH’s Master’s program in Sustainable Energy Engineering.
The consultants then helped me with the Swedish student visa application, which requires proof of financial support (showing funds for living expenses, approximately 8,500 SEK per month), acceptance letter, and health insurance. They also helped me open a Swedish bank account and understand the residence permit process.
I arrived in Stockholm in August 2022. KTH is an outstanding institution with world-class facilities and research opportunities. The program is challenging but rewarding, and I’m learning from leading experts in renewable energy. The university has strong industry connections, and I’ve already visited several companies working on sustainable energy solutions.
Stockholm is a beautiful, innovative city known for its tech startups and commitment to sustainability. The quality of life is excellent, and there’s a vibrant international student community. While living costs are higher than in Pakistan, I can work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) to support myself.
After graduation, I can apply for a 12-month job search visa. Sweden has a strong demand for engineers, especially in renewable energy and technology sectors. If I find a job, I can get a work permit and potentially permanent residency. The experience has been exceptional, and I’m grateful to Global Consultants for their support.
